Burden Sharing
When we are faced with the adversities of life, loss, heartache and pain, it is the best time to receive warm friendships, care, concern and loving support from relatives and close friends. World Vision Foundation of Thailand has many friends knitted and joined together in relief and development ministries both in Thailand and in other WV offices globally.
The havoc caused by the deadly tsunami on 26 December 2004 has left virtually no life untouched. The aftermath of the powerful earthquake and the giant waves that followed has drawn strong local and international sympathy. Aid in the form of funds, experts and volunteers have poured in an unprecedented magnitude and generosity from all 4 corners of the world. Adults and children alike in 5 affected southern provinces let out a great sigh of relief and joy as they see that their plight is a shared one and the resources will be there to help them recover. I wish to thank the sponsors, donors, government agencies both in Bangkok and upcountry, military agencies, educational institutes, teachers, parents of sponsored children, companies and every one of you who have supported in the relief effort of the tsunami-affected victims from the first day until now. Children and families received the basic necessities of life, such as food, drinking water, bedding, medicine and houses with gladness of heart.
The work of helping the victims to recover their lives created by the biggest natural disaster in living memory in 5 provinces is a vital ministry that WVFT has been doing for 32 years now. The orphans, affected children, widows and the jobless are still waiting to receive help. There is still a lot of work to be done in the next 5 years to rebuild the quality life of children and needy people. WVFT has deployed the following 4 main pillars of assistance in its restoration work of battered lives and communities: Emergency Response, Social and Community Recovery, Economic Development and Infrastructure Rehabilitation.
In addition to all this, we need your prayer support. I would like to invite you to come and help us bring back a smile on a child's face, ease the pain for orphans and vulnerable children devastated by the tsunami through child sponsorship.
