| One
example of help
"My mom and dad are rubber latex
tappers. They earn too small money to send me to school. My parents
and my brothers live in a small wooden thatched hut. I live with
my step grandmother who is 85 years old. In the rainy season, it
rains so much and my parents cannot work when it rains. We have
no money left and I have only 1 school uniform to wear.
I want to be a doctor but it seems
only a dream with the situation we are now facing. I therefore would
like to receive an educational fund from World Vision to make my
dream come true."
Saowapa comes from a relatively
poor family. She studies in grade 9 at Huay Yod School, Trang Province.
She lives in a small hut covered with old tiles donated from neighbors
with her step grandmother who adopted Saowapa's dad about 14 years
ago. Saowapa's parents earn about 70-90 Baht a day from their rubber
latex tapping and this is to support 5 family members. They won't
get paid on raining days since they are unable to work in the rain.
Saowapa uses her step grandmother's 300 Baht monthly pension for
school bus. She often goes to school with no money but just a lunch
box. With no spare school uniform, she has to wash it every day
for the next day use, but her uniform will not be dry when it's
raining.
