On June 1\u20132, 2025, World Vision Foundation of Thailand<\/strong> brought together 34 youth participants and staff to join a workshop under the project \u2018Empowering Voices of Children and Youth Coalition Led Policies for Online Safety (Y-Voice Project).\u2019 <\/strong>The event was organised by ECPAT Foundation<\/strong> to promote knowledge, understanding, and skills to address threats in the digital world.<\/p>\n

The training was led by expert speakers from various organisations, including ECPAT Foundation, The HUG Project Thailand, and the Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC) Task Force. These experts shared legal knowledge related to children and youth, as well as guidance on safe online practices.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Kanok Srireang,<\/strong> Chiang Mai \u2013 Lampang Programme Manager, World Vision Thailand, spoke about the background and vision of the organisation regarding child protection:<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough collaboration between World Vision Thailand and ECPAT Foundation, the project titled \u2018Empowering Voices of Children and Youth Coalition Led Policies for Online Safety\u2019 was launched. World Vision Thailand supported youth leaders from Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai, along with staff as their mentors, to participate in this initiative. The goal is to equip children and youth with resilience, knowledge, and skills to protect themselves from online threats. Most importantly, they will be able to share what they have learned with peers in their communities and raise awareness to prevent any child from falling victim to online sexual exploitation.”<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The training included engaging activities for children and youth, such as<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Learning about \u2018Identity Wheel\u2019<\/strong> \u2013 exploring personal identity and promoting acceptance of diverse thoughts and identities
Analysing local contexts through community mapping <\/strong>\u2013 identifying safe zones, vulnerable areas, and community resources
Understanding \u2018Online Grooming\u2019 <\/strong>\u2013 learning about this emerging threat where perpetrators build trust to exploit children sexually
Online harassment process <\/strong>\u2013 from targeting and secrecy to emotional manipulation and behavioural control
Prevention strategy <\/strong>\u2013 using the \u2018NO \u2013 GO \u2013 TELL\u2019 method when facing risky situations<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Jaruwan,<\/strong> or Wan<\/strong>, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student from Chiang Mai, shared:<\/p>\n

“I was glad and excited to join this training. I gained many new experiences, learning about online media, related laws, and making new friends from different schools and areas. One of the most valuable things I gained was the confidence to think, act, and express myself. These are skills I can apply in many areas of life. What I am most proud of is being a voice for youth issues and sharing what I have learned with others, helping them understand how to protect themselves from sexual abuse using the \u2018No \u2013 Go \u2013 Tell\u2019 <\/strong>approach.”<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
