When escalating tensions along the Thai\u2013Cambodian border forced many families to flee their homes urgently, World Vision Foundation of Thailand staff living in the area also had to relocate to evacuation centres. Amid fear and uncertainty, children in these centres faced stress and anxiety. In response, World Vision Foundation of Thailand partnered with local organisations to establish a Child-Friendly Space (CFS)<\/strong> \u2013 a haven designed to provide emotional support and restore smiles to children.<\/p>

This space is far more than a play corner, but a place of hope tailored to meet children\u2019s needs during emergencies. Young children enjoy colouring, modelling clay, and building number blocks, while older children engage in recreational activities such as singing, dancing, and fun games, supported by teachers and youth leaders. Parents also join in activities like clay modelling and letter-block building, strengthening family bonds and reassuring them that their children are safe. Trained child protection staff are present at all times to ensure safety.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Although communities were caught off guard, the Child-Friendly Space became both a shield of protection <\/strong>and a place of healing,<\/strong> helping children regain a sense of normalcy, continue learning, and reduce risks of abuse or family separation. Feedback from children and parents was overwhelmingly positive. One child said, \u201cIt is so much fun! Will you come again tomorrow? If you do, I will be waiting here.\u201d <\/em>Parents expressed joy at seeing their children relax and receive toys they had never had in the shelter.<\/p>

This initiative faced challenges \u2013 limited staff, inadequate facilities, and time constraints \u2013 yet the dedication of staff and volunteers transformed the Child-Friendly Space into a beacon of hope, helping children and families navigate this difficult period together.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Child-Friendly Space is not merely a temporary activity; it stands as a symbol of hope and the belief that every child deserves the best protection and care.
