In remote communities in Chat Trakan District, Phitsanulok Province, people have long faced challenges in accessing water for daily use. Climate change has brought unpredictable conditions\u2014some years, heavy rainfall during the monsoon season causes flash floods that damage homes, while in the dry season, people struggle with water shortages.<\/p>

Kanchana, <\/strong>mother of Bow,<\/strong> a sponsored child supported by World Vision Foundation of Thailand, is among the many families affected by this situation. She shared: \u201cOur family rely on water from the community water supply. Some years, we face drought. The water stops running because too many households use it simultaneously. It\u2019s very difficult.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

To cope with the problem, the family often had to travel long distances to fetch water from neighbouring villages just to meet their basic needs. It is an exhausting task that affects their quality of life, health, and overall family well-being.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Because water is life, another family facing similar hardship is that of Wipada,<\/strong> mother of eight\u2011year\u2011old Kluayhom,<\/strong> also a sponsored child. She explained: \u201cWe don\u2019t have access to any water system. We use water from a borehole, but we don\u2019t have a storage tank. During the dry season, the groundwater level drops and there simply isn\u2019t enough water.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

The lack of water security forces families to constantly adjust their daily routines\u2014especially in the dry season, when water becomes the hardest resource to access.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

To help ensure that children and their families have access to clean water when necessary, World Vision Foundation of Thailand has provided water storage tanks to sponsored children\u2019s households through the \u201cGift Catalogue\u201d<\/strong> initiative. The tanks help increase water reserves and ease the difficulties families face during periods of shortage.<\/p>

Kanchana <\/strong>said with heartfelt gratitude, \u201cThe water tank we received today will help us store water for those times when we don\u2019t have enough. Some years the water dries up completely. This tank will truly be a great help to our family.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Wipada <\/strong>added, \u201cMy daughter has been a sponsored child for about a year now. The support we\u2019ve received has really eased our family\u2019s burden. The school uniform and learning materials are genuinely useful and allow Kluayhom to continue her studies. Now we\u2019ve also received a water tank, which our family really needs. Thank you so much.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Furthermore, improving water access helps build community resilience to the impacts of climate change (SDG 13)<\/strong>\u2014especially as the areas increasingly experience both flooding during the rainy season and drought during the dry months.<\/p>
