Farmers with perpetual poverty, daily-wage workers, people living in remote areas, as well as those residing in conflict-affected zones and migrant workers, continue facing major factors limiting equitable access to resources, basic services, and opportunities to improve their quality of life. These inequalities are further exacerbated by increasingly frequent and complex disasters driven by climate change. Such events directly affect family income, food security, and household resilience.<\/p>\n

To help build community preparedness for these risks, World Vision Foundation of Thailand, <\/strong>in collaboration with the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Regional Centre 17 Chanthaburi,<\/strong> the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior, Ang Khiri Subdistrict Municipality, Chaman Subdistrict Municipality, and Pathawi Subdistrict Municipality in Chanthaburi Province, <\/strong>has supported and encouraged subdistrict disaster prevention and mitigation committees, together with community leaders, to participate in the \u201cDisaster Preparedness Planning and Community-Based Environment Risk Reduction (CBERR) Workshop\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This initiative aims to equip communities to do risk analysis and design preventive measures through participatory processes involving local leaders and community members. The approach includes data collection and risk assessment, community planning, scenario simulation, and systematic, sustainable environmental management to prepare for emergencies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The training plays a vital role in strengthening disaster management mechanisms at the subdistrict level. It enhances community capacity in monitoring and reducing environmental risks, while also improving coordination among local authorities, partner organisations, and the civil sector. World Vision Foundation of Thailand hopes that the knowledge and skills gained will be applied effectively within the communities and contribute to greater safety, reduced losses, and improved quality of life for children, families, and the wider public in Chanthaburi Province.<\/p>
