When disasters strike, vulnerable children and communities are often the groups most affected. The damage is not limited to property, but also extends to farmland, livelihoods, public infrastructure, and educational systems, all of which require long-term recovery.<\/p>

Additionally, climate change<\/strong> has caused seasonal instability, emerging diseases, and impacts on food security, resulting in heightened risks to the income and safety of children and families.<\/p>

On 24 February 2026, World Vision Foundation of Thailand<\/strong> conducted a training on disaster management and integration of climate, environmental, and disaster issues in the community<\/strong> at Ko Thuat Subdistrict Municipality, Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. A total of 65 participants attended the session, including community leaders, village health volunteers, parents, and community representatives. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Sumpun Krobkrajok, Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs Specialist <\/strong>at World Vision Foundation of Thailand, spoke about the organisation\u2019s ministry in disaster risk reduction:<\/p>

\u201cWorld Vision Foundation of Thailand focuses on equipping children and communities with knowledge, understanding, and skills to cope with disasters through preparedness across all stages \u2014 before, during, and after an event. Before a disaster, we implement the Safe School Programme by providing students with training to raise awareness and prepare them for an actual incident. This is complemented by establishing disaster management committees within schools to strengthen community knowledge and support the development of preparedness plans in partnership with local authorities.<\/em><\/p>

When a disaster strikes, children, communities, and local agencies can follow established plans, such as evacuation procedures, the relocation of belongings, and systematic first-aid responses. This also includes conducting joint damage assessments with local authorities, and coordinating with government and private sectors to provide post-disaster support, enabling families and communities to return to normalcy as soon as possible.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This training is part of World Vision Foundation of Thailand\u2019s ministry to promote the well-being of children, families, and communities in vulnerable project areas across 32 provinces, aiming to enable communities to prepare for and respond<\/strong> to disasters effectively, based on the belief that informed and well-prepared communities can greatly reduce loss of life and property. We have also provided essential equipment and items \u2014 including chainsaws, emergency medical kits, and necessary medicines \u2014 for community use in disaster preparedness and response.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
