Miss Sutthida or nicknamed Mukda was a girl who liked analytical thinking. She was a smart student and also was a generous girl who always lent a hand to her friends. She had a dream to be a consultant (psychologist), but at that time it seemed far beyond reach. Her parents planted a garden of chilli, which was grown only once a year. They had small income and did not have much employment as being a general worker. The poverty made Mukda’s childhood was quite difficult.
Mukda has known an actress named Chonlada Mekratree or nicknamed Ke (the sponsor) through the Omkoi Area Development Programme (ADPs), Chiang Mai province, pursued by World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT). The ADPs is a bridge for them to meet each other and gives Mukda the opportunity to study continuously until she can graduate bachelor’s degree with the First Class Honors in Psychology and Guidance, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. The degree is the achievement as the determination of Mukda and her mother.
“I'm very proud of this daughter. Thanks the Sponsor and Thank you to “Ke” very much for supporting the education of my daughter until she got success,” The mother smiled and talked happily.
Besides receiving tuition fee, school supplies and transportation fee, Mukda also had the opportunity to develop a public mind and help others through the life skills development and the outdoor education as the camping which had been organized and developed by WVFT. She also spent her free time teaching English to children in the village and helping with community works.
The Omkoi Area Development Programme also supports the career to the families of needy children such as the raising of local pig breed and growing vegetable garden which help Mukda’s family has household food sources and has a better life from the extra income.
“Ke has sponsored me both in my education and extra work which help me to alleviate the burden. Ke’s encouragement is the driving force for me to complete learning,” Mukda expressed her impression of Ke.
After graduation, Mukda in her 23 years old has joined the team of Human Resources Department of The Touch of Love Foundation (A child support foundation).
“Thank you to Ke for sponsoring me through many years until I got bachelor’s degree. She loves me like her child. It’s a very warm feeling,” Mukda said at the end with a smile, “I have a job that I love and I will try collecting money to build a house to my parents. Thank you!”
