What is Chosen?

Chosen™ is a child sponsorship initiative that empowers children to “choose their own sponsors.”
Launched for the first time in 2019 by World Vision International, this initiative represents a significant shift in the global child sponsorship approach—from the traditional model in which sponsors selected a child, to a new framework that grants children the right to make their own choice. This transformation affirms the principles of dignity, humanity, and the inherent worth of every child.

This initiative is of great significance, as it restores a fundamental human right—the right to choose—to children who often lack such opportunities in their daily lives. Chosen™ is therefore not merely a new approach to matching sponsors with children, but a meaningful and safe space that enables children to recognize that

their voices carry value,
they deserve to be heard,
and they possess the capacity to shape the course of their own lives.

The Chosen activity is a new way to sponsor children.

The purpose is to let children choose their own sponsors with the applicant’s photo and to make a continuous donation of 750 Baht every month. We are open for applications from 21 mar – 21 Apr 26. The activity round for children to choose their sponsor will be in the end of April 2026.

Are you ready to be Chosen by a underprivileged child?

For the first time, underprivileged children will have the genuine opportunity to “choose.” Your love and support will be the first step in helping these children change their future.

What happens next after a child has chosen you as their sponsor…

Once a child has chosen you as their sponsor, the sponsorship relationship will officially begin through the monthly child sponsorship program at 700 THB per month per child. Your contribution will support the holistic development and restoration of the child, their family, and their community—empowering them to attain long-term stability and self‑reliance.
After a child has chosen you, you will receive:

-A photograph of the child holding your picture.
-A letter from the child explaining why they chose you.
Your monthly contribution will be allocated to support the following key areas:
1.Education
Supporting children’s continuous access to learning and essential life skills.

2.Health and Nutrition
Ensuring children receive basic healthcare, adequate food, and proper nutritional support.

3.Clean Water and Hygiene
Improving water sources, sanitation, and community hygiene to provide a safer environment for children.
4.Child Protection
Strengthening community-based child protection systems, preventing violence, and promoting children’s rights.
5.Family and Community Development
Helping families build livelihoods, generate stable income, and create a secure foundation for children’s long‑term well‑being.

How to join

1. Register and submit your photo.

2. World Vision will send your photo to the children for selection.

3. The children will choose you as their sponsor.

4. World Vision will send you the child's photo and information.

5. Your sponsorship journey towards transformational change and a special relationship begins!

What is a Child Sponsorship Program?

You may register to participate in the Chosen ‘Chosen with Love’ activity through our online platform and upload your photograph, which will be used in the event where children will have the opportunity to choose their own sponsor.

Important Note Regarding Your Photograph**

To ensure that children can clearly see you and feel a sense of warmth through your photograph, please select an image that conveys a bright, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Your photograph plays a crucial role in helping the child consider and choose you as their sponsor during the Chosen™ activity.

Thereafter, you and the child may begin building a meaningful relationship through email or written correspondence, with the foundation serving as an intermediary to facilitate communication between sponsors and children. As a sponsor, your support will continue to contribute to the long‑term development and well‑being of the child, their family, and the wider community, enabling them to grow with stability and sustainability.

Frequently Asked Questions - Chosen Activity

You can continuously sponsor the child. In some cases, a child may leave the sponsorship program. due to different reasons, such as their family moving out of the area where World Vision operates, or the child finishing school and starting to earn an income. If this happens, we will notify you promptly and offer you the opportunity to sponsor another child. Most children will remain in the sponsorship program until their communities achieve self-sufficiency. When the program nears its end, we will inform you of the community’s success and offer you another child in need to sponsor, helping another family and community begin its development journey.

Yes, you can. If you want multiple children to choose you, we will print and display multiple copies of your photo for the Chosen activity, allowing several children to choose you as their sponsor. This way, you can support multiple children through your sponsorship.

Yes, each child chooses only one sponsor. In all of World Vision’s child sponsorship programs, children are paired with only one sponsor, creating a unique one-on-one relationship.

Yes, you can include a family photo when registering for the Chosen program. However, please ensure you have permission from everyone in the photo before submitting it. Only the donor’s name will be printed on the photo used during the selection process. Once you and your sponsored child have connected through letters, you can share more information about your family members in your correspondence.

No, submitting a photo is a mandatory requirement for the Chosen programme. The photo is a crucial element, allowing children to exercise their right to choose their sponsor based on the presented images.
