On 23 March 2026, Dr Suthat Chotanaphan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Yes! Together We Can End TB” event. The event was also joined by executives from the Department of Disease Control, as well as representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and public health networks. This took place at the taxi parking area, Zone C, Suvarnabhumi Airport, Samut Prakan Province.
Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major public health challenges that Thailand and many countries around the world continue to face. Each year, millions of new cases are reported globally, while Thailand continues to experience a concerning number of infections. Delayed diagnosis increases the risk of transmission, making early detection and timely linkage to appropriate, continuous treatment essential to effective TB control.
The decision to host this event at Suvarnabhumi Airport is particularly significant, as one of the campaign’s key target groups for screening is taxi drivers and public transport operators. These occupations are considered high-risk because they involve working in enclosed spaces and close contact with many passengers each day.
The event offered a range of free health services, including mobile digital X-ray units equipped with AI-assisted analysis, highly accurate molecular sputum testing, educational booths on TB, as well as panel discussions and performances aimed at raising public awareness.
Dr Nyan Win Phyo, Migrant Populations Programme Manager at World Vision Foundation of Thailand, representing the organisation as a principal recipient of funding from the Global Fund under the “Stop TB and AIDS through RRTTPR Year 2024–2026” project, participated in the event as part of a health network committed to ending TB. This involvement reflects World Vision Foundation of Thailand’s ministry in walking alongside vulnerable populations to promote sustainable health and quality of life for all, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the World Health Organization’s End TB Strategy.
Tuberculosis cannot be eliminated by the efforts of any single organisation alone. It requires collaboration across all sectors. Moving forward together is at the heart of meaningful change—this is the true meaning of “Together We Can.”
