When Children Are Given Opportunities, Their Potential Can Grow Without Limits

The story of a 9-year-old girl developing her potential through World Vision Foundation of Thailand’s Child Sponsorship Program

In a child’s world, dreams may not yet be clearly defined, and the future may seem too distant to imagine. But there is one thing every child should have: the ‘opportunity’ to learn, grow, and discover their potential.

For Ness Pimlapas, a 9-year-old third-grade student from Bueng Kan Province—that opportunity is gradually taking shape with support from WeTrade International LLC. Through its ‘Building Brighter Futures, Together’ initiative, the company supports World Vision Foundation of Thailand’s Child Sponsorship Program, which aims to create lasting change for children, families, and communities.

The Simple Life of a Young Girl Growing Up

Ness is shy and soft-spoken, often responding to questions with the bashful smile of a typical elementary school student. She lives with her grandmother and younger sibling in a household facing financial hardship. Although her living conditions may be more challenging than those of many other children, Ness continues to live each day simply and with determination.

Every morning, Ness rides her bicycle to school—a place where she can learn and grow. When she returns home, she quickly finishes any homework before helping her grandmother clean the house as much as she can.

When asked what she likes most about school, Ness answers immediately, “I like studying Thai.” But when asked about her dreams for the future, she is not yet sure what she wants to be. At 9 years old, she still has so much to explore, learn, and experience.

Although Ness does not yet know what career she would like to pursue, there is one question she can answer with certainty. When asked what she hopes her future will be like, she simply says, “I want it to be much better.” Her words may sound simple, but they clearly express the hope in a child’s heart—not for anything extraordinary, but simply for the opportunity to grow and build a better life.

Child Sponsorship: Investing in Future Potential

For World Vision Foundation of Thailand, child sponsorship is not simply about providing assistance to one child. It is about creating an environment that supports children’s holistic development by working alongside children, families, schools, and communities. This approach helps children grow up safely, enjoy a good quality of life, and prepare for the future.

This work encompasses education, health, child protection, life skills development, and community strengthening—all essential to helping children learn, develop, and move forward with confidence.

This approach reflects World Vision Foundation of Thailand’s belief that lasting change does not come from one-time assistance. It occurs when children, families, and communities are empowered to develop their capabilities and move forward with resilience. Child sponsorship is therefore more than support for an individual child; it is a shared investment in children’s potential that creates positive, long-term outcomes for families, communities, and society as a whole.

Today, Ness is still a young girl who enjoys studying Thai, rides her bicycle to school each day, and lives a simple life with her grandmother. Although she does not yet know what she wants to be when she grows up, her hope for the future remains clear.

World Vision Foundation of Thailand believes that every child has inherent value and the potential to thrive when given the right opportunities and support. Every opportunity given to a child today is a starting point for lasting change.
