In celebration of National Youth Day 2026, World Vision Foundation of Thailand, in partnership with the Omkoi District Office, Chiang Mai Primary Educational Service Area Office 5, and network partners, hosted ‘Good People Unite: Cherish Our Community, Shape Our Rights’ at the Omkoi District Auditorium in Chiang Mai Province. The event sought to empower children and young people to play active, constructive roles in their own development and that of their communities and society, while encouraging youth participation in driving positive change at the local level.

The event highlighted collaboration among government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and local communities to create an environment that effectively supports learning and the development of children and young people. Omkoi District Chief, Mr. Preechapol Pooltawee presided over the ceremony, which brought together executives from World Vision Foundation of Thailand, government representatives, community leaders, teachers, and students from local schools.

The event included a certificate presentation ceremony honoring outstanding young people, individuals, organizations, and educational institutions that have played key roles in advancing child and youth development. Official shirts were also presented to youth representatives and advisers to boost morale and recognize those who have contributed to empowering young people in Omkoi District.

Another highlight was an exhibition and a series of learning activities presented by more than 15 participating schools and local networks. The exhibition showcased outcomes of child and youth development across a range of areas, including addressing literacy and reading challenges; developing life and vocational skills; preventing and monitoring drug-related problems; building resilience against online risks; promoting anti-bullying initiatives in schools; empowering vulnerable youth; and coordinating the work of local agencies serving children and young people.

Participating children and young people also learned through visits to exhibition booths, where they collected points to redeem for prizes, and eagerly awaited the results of a competition featuring inventions made from repurposed materials. These activities fostered creativity, environmental stewardship, responsibility, and teamwork. Performances by local students were held throughout the day, showcasing their talents, confidence, and pride in their local cultural identity.

On this occasion, World Vision Foundation of Thailand received an award recognizing it as a ‘Scholarship Supporter for the Development of Children and Youth in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province.’. Presented by the Omkoi District Office and Chiang Mai Primary Educational Service Area Office 5, the award honored the Foundation’s role and longstanding commitment to child and youth development.

World Vision Foundation of Thailand believes that children and young people are an important force for social development. Ensuring that every child has access to education, protection, and opportunities for holistic development enables them to grow up in safety, develop a strong sense of self-worth, and become agents of change who help build a sustainable future for their communities and the nation.

Ultimately, the success of the event was not only a source of pride for World Vision Foundation of Thailand, but also a testament to the power of cross-sector collaboration in creating opportunities, hope, and a brighter future for children and young people in Omkoi District.
