“Thank you… for giving me a school bag and learning supplies.”

Wilai, a little girl whose smile spoke louder than words

At just 9 years old, Wilai, a second-grade student, is one of the young learners whose bright smile shines through. Though her life is simple and she does not have toys or fancy items like other children, what Wilai does have is a warm heart filled with gratitude.

“I live with my grandma,” she answers with a gentle smile when asked about her family. Wilai lives with her grandmother alone. Her grandmother works as a tea picker to support her granddaughter on her own.

Though life is not easy, Wilai’s voice is full of joy. “Grandma takes good care of me. I am happy,” she says confidently.

When asked about school, she responds enthusiastically, “I like English the most because it is fun. My teacher is good. I also get good grades in this subject!”

Do you want to go abroad?
Upon hearing this question, Wilai’s eyes lit up. “Yes, I want to meet foreigners so I can speak English with them.”

Today, Wilai has received a new school bag and learning supplies from World Vision Foundation of Thailand through the Child Sponsorship program.

While these items may seem ordinary to many, for Wilai, they are the first new things in many years that she has received.

With a smile, she says, “I am happy. I will use them for school,” and thanks the sponsor with genuine sweetness and sincerity.

These small things not only help fill the gap in essential school supplies but also serve as a powerful encouragement, giving one little girl the chance to continue walking a steady path in her education.

Thank you to the sponsor, who made Wilai’s day more meaningful than just receiving a “new bag.”
