World Vision Foundation of Thailand participated in the “World Day Against Child Labour Campaign on 12 June” at the Chaloem Phrakiat Auditorium, Surasakmontree School, Bangkok. The event brought together representatives from government agencies, the private sector, international organizations, and civil society in a united effort to raise awareness and reaffirm their commitment to ending child labour in all its forms.
The event featured a wide range of activities, including panel discussions on age-appropriate work for children, awareness-raising campaigns, stage performances, and a joint declaration against child labour. Representatives from multiple sectors actively shared roles and policy recommendations aimed at strengthening and expanding child protection mechanisms for children and youth.
In this regard, World Vision Foundation of Thailand joined the event as a non-governmental organization with long-standing experience in child protection. The Foundation is committed to creating safe environments for children and protecting them from all forms of exploitation, including child labour, at both community and policy levels through programs that emphasize:
- Children are able to protect themselves from all forms of violence: Children gain knowledge, skills, and awareness to safeguard themselves from violence and are able to apply these in practice.
- Parents and caregivers protect children from all forms of violence: Parents are equipped with knowledge on child rights and positive parenting, enabling them to provide appropriate care and protection and reduce risk factors leading to child labour.
- Schools have mechanisms to protect children from all forms of violence: Teachers are trained in positive, non-violent discipline; child protection mechanisms are strengthened in schools; and screening systems are established to identify children at risk of violence.
- Children are protected from all forms of violence within communities: Community-based child protection committees and/or networks are strengthened to foster safer environments for children
- Child protection policies are improved: Development and implementation of child protection policies and guidelines; establishment and/or strengthening of accessible child protection services; enhanced collaboration between government and partners to enforce protection mechanisms; and promotion of children’s participation in decision-making related to child protection.
World Vision Foundation of Thailand places strong emphasis on integrated collaboration with government agencies, partner networks, and local communities to prevent children from risks of labour and rights violations. The Foundation focuses on building sustainable child protection systems and ensuring that all children grow up safely, have access to opportunities, and receive equal protection in accordance with human rights principles.
Participation in this event reflects the Foundation’s commitment to being part of nationwide collaboration efforts to strengthen child protection and sustainably eliminate child labour from Thai society.
